The E237 machine tap from Dormer creates left hand metric coarse threads in a pre-drilled hole. The "left hand" means the threads go the opposite way to normal – so they go anti-clockwise into the work piece. They are manufactured form powder metal High Speed cobalt for a better performance and longer tool life, and conform to the German Institute for Standardization. The straight flute design makes them suitable for creating threads in both through holes (holes which go all the way through the work piece) and blind holes (holes which stop part way through the work piece), whilst the bright finish ensures a cleaner, more accurate thread by stopping work piece material from sticking to the cutting edge of the tool. The E237 taps can be used in a wide range of materials, including aluminium, steels and stainless steel.
